Prerequisites: HT 101 with a C or better; and one of the following: CS 101, CS 241 or CS 125, with a C or better. This course provides knowledge of how the evolution of computers has impacted the health care field with focus on electronic processing methods in the Health Information Management Department. Students will also gain computer skills through simulated management of health data using data base software. Topics and project work include Internet research methods; security, access and other current issues surrounding development and use of computerized patient records and electronic data. 3 Credit Hours
