In addition to orienting the new student to the CT program, this course introduces the student to the principles and concepts that are fundamental to the building construction industry. While the course does focus on the characteristics of traditional building materials, the impact that new technology has on materials and methods are also discussed. Other topics of importance to this course are: construction safety, O.S.H.A., the relationship between owner, architect/engineer, and builder, contracts, scheduling, bonding, insurance requirements, building permits, code enforcement, and construction law.
