This course focuses on the experiences of women and the signifi cance of gender in society. Specifi c areas of investigation include the social construction of gender, women and work, the state, patriarchy, and the role of women in society and in the family. Particular attention will be paid to such factors as race, ethnicity, and class to understand more fully women's roles across cultures and over time. A library component is included.
