Prerequisite: SC 102 with a grade of C or higher or SC 103. A course designed to introduce the principles of microbiology. Emphasis will be placed on the characterization and cultivation of bacteria, reproduction, growth, and metabolism. Microorganisms other than bacteria that will be studied are protozoa, algae, fungi, and viruses. Control of microorganisms and disease will also be emphasized.
