Pre/Co-requisite: EN 101. This course analyzes representative tragedies and histories of William Shakespeare, often considered the greatest writer in the English language. Biographical detail and background about Elizabethan England will be included where appropriate. Plays likely to be studied include Romeo and Juliet, King Lear, Macbeth, Othello, Hamlet, Richard III, and Henry IV, Part I. A library component is included.
