This course explores the origins and development of the Arab-Israeli conflict. We examine: the late 19th/early 20th century convergence of Zionism and Arab nationalism in Ottoman, then Britishmandated, Palestine; the creation of the state of Israel; the 1956, 1967, and 1973 wars; the rise of Palestinian nationalism; and the search for peace, from the Camp David Accords to the "Road Map."
