This course introduces students to the varied literatures of Latin America. Students will study all forms of literature such as short stories, poetry, drama, and novels, by a wide array of Latin American authors including Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Isabel Allende, Pablo Neruda, Octavio Paz, Jorge Luis Borges, Julia Alvarez, Carlos Fuentes, and Ernesto Sabado. Emphasis will be placed on the cultural and political environments in which the texts were written. Prerequisite: EN 101 and EN 102. ( 0 lecture hour) (3 semester hours) Fall
