Prerequisite: Eligibility for ENGL 1A Advisory: HIST 2A or HIST 2B The purpose of this class is to study historic events, personages, places, and themes in United States history using the medium of film. The course analyzes why cinema often both romanticize and offer puerile versions of history in hopes of achieving political and cultural satisfaction with societal mores. Motivations of directors and writers are studied in conjunction with the public responses to their work. Grades: Option (A-F), P/NP. Degree Applicable.
