This course analyzes the contribution of lesbian and gay artists-and the poets, dancers and writers with whom they associated-on the development of American art. It seeks to restore the specifically lesbian or gay voices of some of the most talked about figures in American cultural history from Thomas Eakins to Jasper Johns against the background of the lesbian and gay movement.
