Description:
-
This course is not ordinarily counted in the Associate in Arts degree. Concepts from nursing fundamentals are adapted to the nursing care of the family. Through classroom and clinical experiences, students gain knowledge of the processes, problems, and deviations from health which influence or alter the normal course of parenthood and child care. Studies of women's health, the reproduction cycle, growth and development of the child, well and ill child care, and the impact of illness and hospitalization on the family are provided in the classroom. These studies provide the students with the theoretical basis to safely apply the nursing process in caring for obstetric and pediatric clients in a variety of health care settings.
