Prerequisites: MAT* K186. Co-requisite: CIV* K201. This course covers the physical properties of soils, and soil behavior when loaded, shears strength, and consolidation. Identification of soil types, movement of water through soils, and Darcy's Law are taught. Also, design of subsurface sewage disposal systems using the Connecticut Public Health Code is presented.
