This course is designed to develop those abilities and skills that will enable students to define and explain the types of health insurance policies, contracts, and guideposts, as well as analyze insurance forms and application information. Emphasis will be placed on legal issues and medical record confidentiality. Using the basis of the International Classification of Disease, Clinical Modification (ICD-9CM) and Current Procedural Terminology (CPT-4), students will also learn the basic of coding diagnoses, procedures, and signs and symptoms.
