Prerequisite: Any 100 level social science course or permission of the instructor. This course will concentrate on developments in China and Japan since 1900, including the Chinese Revolution of 1911, the rise of militarism in Japan, World War II in the Pacific, the growth and triumph of communism in China, and the defeat and recovery of Japan. In addition, the course will examine both the Korean and Vietnam conflicts as well as contemporary problems in East Asia. Course fulfills International/Intercultural Requirement.
