Prerequisite: MAT* K095. This course explores the nature and production of light, the laws of reflection and refraction and how these apply to devices such as lenses, prisms, and mirrors, the nature of waves, and the wavelike behavior of light. Concepts will be reinforced by demonstrations and lab exercises. Throughout the course, emphasis will be placed on applications of photonics in medicine, communications, environment and consumer devices. This course is equivalent to PHO* K101 Photonics Concepts.
