Prerequisites: MAT* K137, WWT* K110, WWT* K112. Co-requisite: WWT* K116. In this course, the safe and effective operation and maintenance of wastewater treatment facilities will be further investigated with an emphasis on larger, conventional treatment plants. Topics include activated sludge, sludge digestion and handling, effluent disposal, plant maintenance safety and housekeeping, and laboratory procedures. Computer use and application in the laboratory for data acquisition and analysis will also be covered. Students completing the course will be prepared for the State of Connecticut Wastewater Operator Class II examination.
