Fall, Spring Lab fee will be required. This course is geared to recognizing the special problems of the chronic cardiopulmonary patient. Under close supervision, the studentwill learn how to teach patients and their families such techniques as: planning each day, special exercises to increase mobility, early signs of deterioration and how to ward off acute exacerbation of disease. Good teaching techniques as well as good therapeutic techniques with which the student should be able to improve the life style of the chronic patient throughout the course of the disease will be taught. This course is open only to matriculated Respiratory Care students or those with permission of the department chairperson. A letter grade of "C" or better is required forgraduation. Prerequisites: RESP 125, Fundamentals of Respiratory Care II; RESP 200, Advanced Respiratory Life Support.
