1 semester, 4 credits This integrated lecture/laboratory course is designed to introduce the subject of biotechnology and current laboratory techniques, as applied to recombinant DNA technology, microbiology, and immunology including electrophoresis, DNA fingerprinting, Southern blot, restriction enzyme mapping, and transformation. Additionally, cell culture, nano-technology, siRNA, DNA microarray, FACS analysis, GMO and Ag-biotechnology, stem cells, and bioethics will be included. Prerequisite: Permission of the instructor.
