Fall Lab fee will be required. Acourse designed to furnish the general college student with the knowledge and experience necessary in developing the art of listening intelligently and perceptively to various types and styles of music heard today and to increase one's enjoyment and appreciation of music in general. Emphasis will be on the music of the Middle Ages (450-1450); the Renaissance (1450- 1600); and the Baroque Period (1600-1750). The course will begin with several lectures on the elements of music and musical instruments and end with a study of the American musical and non-western music.
