Fall, Spring This course is designed to introduce the paramedic student to specific pathophysiology, assessment, and management techniques for trauma patients. The course topics include trauma systems, mechanisms of injury, hemorrhage and shock, soft tissue trauma, burns, head and face trauma, spinal trauma, thoracic trauma, abdominal trauma and musculoskeletal trauma. The course includes a lab component, which is designed to compliment the didactic sessions of the course. Open only to matriculated Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic students. Pre- or co- requisite: EMSP 204, Airway and Assessment for the Paramedic.
