Introduction to materials, energy and bonding of atoms, structure of solids, relations between structure and properties, comparison of properties, processing and applications of different materials. Laboratory to include mechanical properties, metallurgy, heat treatment of steels. Prerequisite: CHEM 110, General Chemistry I or CHEM120, Freshman Chemistry I, and ENGR 110, Engineering Tools.
