Spring Lab fee will be required. This course is designed to familiarize students with the principles and procedures of dental radiology. Laboratory time is provided to enable students to practice the exposing, processing, mounting and interpreting of dental radiographs. In addition, the concept of prevention as it relates to radiation hygiene is reinforced throughout theoretical and practical sessions. Emphasis is placed on the development of the technical skills necessary to produce dental radiographs of acceptable diagnostic quality. Recitation periods will be utilized to help clarify radiology concepts. Open only to matriculated Dental Hygiene students. Prerequisites: DHYG 105, Tooth Morphology and Occlusion; DHYG 110, Preventive Dentistry I. Corequisites: DHYG 120, Preventive Dentistry II; DHYG 121, Clinical Dental Hygiene I.
