This course provides an analysis of the historical development of constitutional criminal procedure. The effect of the due process clause of the Fourteenth Amendment is examined through a study of the leading Supreme Court decisions relating to criminal justice. Special attention is placed upon the Fourteenth Amendment's use to apply the Bill of Rights to the States. Prerequisite: ENG 02 or RDL 02 if required. Pre/corequisite: POL 11.
