(Prerequisite: SCT 100) This course introduces the student to the Internet. It provides the student with an excellent opportunity to understand, investigate, and explore the Internet and related wide area networks. The student will learn how to connect to the Internet as well as how to use communications software to access the many resources available on the network. Topics include network fundamentals, Internet concepts, electronic mail, file transfer protocol (FTP), Telnet, Internet gophers, the World Wide Web (WWW), and information services. Contact hours: Class - 2, Lab - 6. Credit hours: 5.
