This course will provide a brief, but comprehensive study of the writing styles of selected African American writers. This study will include a historial perspective of the racial climate in American society, the connection between literature by African Americans, and will examine current criticism on selected texts. This course partially satisfies the writing requirement of S.B.E. 6A-10.030. Prerequisite: ENC 1102 with a grade of C or higher or permission of the instructor.
