Prerequisite: Minimum grade of C in LGL 101 and LGL 102. 3 credits This course will provide an overview of the basic principles of family law and family law practice in general, as well as specific information with regard to Connecticut state laws. The course will examine specific areas of family law; i.e., marriage, premarital agreements, common law marriages and living arrangements, annulment and dissolution of marriage, and legal separation, as well as spousal support, child custody, visitation, and support. Specific emphasis will be placed on the paralegal's role and ethics in the law office setting with regard to the various legal topics presented in this course.
