Prerequisite: ENG 101 and one of the following: HIS 101, HIS 102, HIS 201 or HIS 202. 3 credits formerly HI 106 Russia and the World Today This course is an introduction to the history of Russia and the Soviet Union from 1900 until the present. It includes a brief overview of Czarist Russia, then proceeds to examine the failed Revolution of 1905, the Russian Revolutions of 1917, the development of the Soviet Union, World War II, the emergence of the Soviet Union as a superpower, the Cold War, the end of communism and the breakup of the Soviet Union, and Russia since 1991 in the global economy.
