Prerequisites: ECE 182, ECE 101, ECE 210, or permission of coordinator. 3 credits formerly ED 205 Education of Children with Special Needs This course examines the history of treatment of children with handicapping conditions. Course content includes: legislative milestones relating to the handicapped, identification of children with special needs and understanding the screening, assessment and evaluation process. Students also become aware of strategies for effective instruction as well as the impact on the family of a child with handicapping conditions.
