3 credits (fall) Prerequisites: BU110 and Junior or Senior or permission of the instructor. This course examines the legal issues that affect sport businesses, organizations, and facilities on the professional, collegiate and community levels. It includes a review of the judicial opinions governing professional and organized amateur athletics. The course uses detailed case studies to examine constitutional law; collective bargaining; arbitration; antitrust laws; civil liability, including safety issues; and criminal law in the sport field.
