This course examines important research (traditional and current) that deals with theoretical and practical higher level thinking skills - key aspects of literacy development. Topics include, but are not limited to, schema theory, metacognition, learning and instructional strategies and technology, phonemic awareness, authentic assessment, multicultural literature, and effective school practices.
