This course is an introduction to the basic theory and practice of cryptographic techniques used in computer security. Topics such as encryption (secret-key and public-key), digital signatures, secure authentication, electronic commerce (anonymous cash, micro payments), key management, cryptographic hashing, Internet voting systems, and a bit of zero-knowledge protocols will be discussed. Lab fee required. Prerequisite: CIS 2355 or CEN 2525.
