3 credits (spring) Prerequisites: EL102 (C- grade or better), the equivalent or permission of the instructor. This course provides an opportunity for students to analyze, interpret, and evaluate short stories in order to gain a better understanding of this literary genre. Specific elements of fiction - such as plot, point of view, and symbolism - are emphasized. The course is designed to enhance students' critical reading abilities while heightening awareness of the integral role that stories play in our society and in individual lives.
