(Prerequisites: Program Admission; AHS 101; AHS 104; SUR 108, SUR 109 and SUR 101 taken no longer than 6 months prior to enrollment in SUR 112; Corequisite: SUR 102) Orients students to the clinical environment and provides experience with basic skills necessary to the surgical technologist. Topics include: scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and draping; assistance with patient care; processing of instruments and supplies; creating and maintenance of a sterile field; basic instrumentation; and environmental sanitation.
