3 cr. LEC 3 hrs. Pre-req.: ENG 041, ENG 042 or appropriate placement test score Co-requisite: ENG 140 Credit will be given for either SOC 250 or LST 250. This course is an introduction to the emerging field of elder care law, covering the areas of advance directives, wills, and guardianships. Special attention is focused on patients' rights in health care decision-making and the entitlement programs of Medicare and Medicaid. Subjects covered include managed care, long-term care insurance, livingfacilities for the elderly, and financial planning for aging and elderly clients.
