6 cr., LEC 5 hrs; LAB 3 hrs. Coereq.: EMS 100 This class meets the requirements of the National Highway and Transportation Safety Administration's Emergency Medical Technician-Basic: National Standard Curriculum. The class is designed to instruct a student to the level of Emergency Medical TechnicianBasic (EMT-B). The EMT-B serves as a vital link in the chain of the healthcare team. The student will learn all skills necessary to provide emergency medical care at a basic life support (BLS) level with an ambulance or other specialized service. Upon successful completion of this class, the student will be eligible to take the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians EMT-B Certification Examination, which is required to obtain NJ State and/or National Registry certification as an EMT-B.
