In order to develop a deep critical understanding of fi lm and television and the ability to write about them, students will be introduced to major theoretical and aesthetic approaches including auteur theory, genre theory, semiotics, and spectatorship. Basic terminology, technical aspects, industry practices and social, political and cultural contexts will also be discussed. Prerequisite: Cu202 and Cu205.
