Fulfills a course requirement in the Language Core ConcentrationPrerequisite: Successful completion (C- or higher) of Intermediate Latin IIor placement by examinationRoman Literary Tradition I provides a survey of Latin literature fromearly republican Rome to the age of Augustus. The most significantworks of literature, ranging from drama and epic to lyric poetry andhistory will be introduced and discussed. Emphasis is placed on thetools of analysis specific to literary studies, translation, and criticism inclassical philology. Reading, discussing, and writing about significanttexts affords understanding of literature and reinforcement ofadvanced language skills.
