This lecture-format course presents students with an overview of the multitude of aspects that comprise the management of the physical plant of a veterinary facility. The four major components of the course are: 1. The nature of facility management, which involves strategic and annual planning, financial management, and space planning and management. 2. Operations and management. 3. Physical maintenance and mechanical maintenance. 4. Facility planning and forecasting. Guest lecturers with expertise and experience in select areas will present some topics. Field trips to various types of veterinary facilities will complement the lecture information and texbook readings.
