This course will review the major processes, functions, tasks, and concepts utilized in managing the business- corporate travel-industry market segment. Course material will introduce students to the emerging profession of managing corporate travel. The course will review the potential for multinational corporations to become major consumers of travel and hospitality products and services. The creation and management of the corporate travel department will be a major focus of the course. The role of the corporate travel manager will be explored as well as the interrelationships of the various travel- industry segments. The financial management of corporate travel will be addressed as it relates to corporate savings, profitability, contracts, negotiations, automation, and distribution/purchasing sytems.
