Veterinary Technology Human Resource Management This course examines the responsibilities of personnel managers and managers who perform the human resource management functions in Golf Courses, Recreation/Sports, or Veterinary/Lab Animal facilities. Course content includes: work analysis, staffing, training, and development, appraisal, compensation, maintenance, union relations, communication, motivation, and legislation. Contemporary topics are employee recognition, employee assistance programs, professional burnout, and sexual harassment as they relate to these unique areas. In addition, the class will require the student to use theories learned in the foundation course (Veterinary Technology Human Resource Management) to evaluate practice situations and develop a plan of remediation if deficiencies are detected. Instructor designed scenarios as well as actual veterinary practice examples will be used to challenge the student's analytical skills. Veterinary applications of human resource management are the main focus of This course. Prerequisites: 1. COMM 100 and ENGL 100 2.
