This course involves the study of marriage and the family in contemporary Western society, with cross-cultural perspective as background. The emphasis is on current issues and problems pertaining to marriage and family in America. Topics dealt with are socialization and role behavior; courtship and premarital assumptions; personality; sexuality; liberation; social, religious, and economic influences; family roles and issues; social change; and forms of marital conflict and adjustment.
