This course provides an introduction to the principles and methodology of contemporary sociology, with an emphasis on the major sociological issues confronting Western society. Areas examined in depth are role behavior, socialization, religion, race and prejudicial behavior, deviance, marriage and family relations, social change, the evolution of American institutions and values, and problems of life in mass society.
