Recreation for Persons With Disabilities - This course is designed to introduce the principles, programs, and techniques in conducting physical activities for individuals with disabilities. The course will provide basic knowledge of the history of adapted physical education; neuropsychological, psychomotor, social, and behavioral characteristics of individuals with disabilities and gifted and talented individuals; program planning and teacher effectiveness; assessment, task analysis, behavior management, and alternatives for equal opportunities in educational environments. The course requires weekly interaction with an assigned client through an outreach recreation program for exceptional children and adults.
