This course provides students with the opportunity to apply and advance the concepts learned in Medical-Surgical Nursing III (NURS 210) and previous classroom and clinical experiences. Students are expected to utilize assessment skills, communication skills, and the nursing process to aid clients at various stages of the life cycle. Emphasis is placed on priority setting, problem solving, and critical thinking in managing the care of selected clients. Client teaching, discharge planning, and legal and ethical responsibilities will be incorporated into the plan of care. Students are expected to identify physiologic and psychosocial needs of the clients including application of pharmacological, nutritional principles, and lab data. Students will move toward a competent, skilled, and caring professional role.
