This is an introductory soil course. Topics inclue soil genesis, composition, and physical and chemical characterisitcs in relation to soil moisture and fertility. Students learn basic soil-testing procedures with horticultural applications and use test results to correct soil imbalances through a variety of methods such as liming, fertilizing, and adding organic matter to soils.
