This course surveys American history from the end of World War II to the present. The course is taught topically with in-depth attention on the growth and stagnation of the U.S. economy, the war in Vietnam, and the social, political, and economic trends of the 1980s and 1990s. Particular attention is devoted to the debate over abortion, changes in the American work place, global competition, and the place of the U.S. in the world economy.
