This is an introductory course in photovoltaics that explores the various types of systems available and the practicality of each for a given application. Calculations for sizing a system are also addressed. The laboratory aspect of the course provides hands-on experience with system components. Although no prior experience is required, a familiarity with electrical terminology, calculations, and the National Electrical Code is recommended. Prerequisite: Completion of an Electrical Construction and Maintenance certificate, a Refrigeration/Air Conditioning certificate, or permission of the instructor.
