This course is a study of the terminology, hardware, and software associated with database systems. Topics include file organizations and access methods, historical development of databases, data organization and structure, relational databases, types of database language, CODASYL data description language, and comparison of database techniques and traditional approaches. Students design, write, test, and debug programs that manage traditional files and databases.
