Ecology is the study of the structure and function of nature. This course will acquaint students with the known levels of organization of natural systems on the population, community, and ecosystem (regional and global) levels. The overall purpose is to unite the theories of ecological studies with applications in nature by field analysis, to present both holistic and reductionist approaches in field studies, and to relate systems ecology with evolutionary biology. (NS) Prerequisite: BIOL 130 or BIOL 140 or permission of the instructor.
