Encourages critical listening and thinking skills to examine and analyze clinical case studies involving clients in a variety of settings. Gordon's Functional Health Patterns is used for the analysis of clinical cases. Issues essential to clinical practice such as standards of nursing practice, allocation of resources, cultural diversity, delegation of assignments, discharge planning, client/family teaching, appropriate documentation, spirituality, health promotion, therapeutic communication, drug therapy, and nutrition are discussed. Student team members collaboratively participate in the analysis of clinical cases and the implementation and evaluation of holistic nursing care. Students present cases in a logical and comprehensive manner and review their decision making processes. Prerequisite: CHM 131; MBI 161; NSG 200, 205, 206. 3 Lec. 5 Lab. (ADN program and LPN-ADN track)
