Prerequisites: HIST 05101 and HIST 05306 This course covers the major themes in European intellectual history. It includes such topics as the birth and diffusion of the Enlightenment, Romanticism, 19th century liberalism, positivism, the Darwinian Revolution, Marxism, nationalistic thought, irrationalism in political and philosophical thought, existentialism and contemporary ideas. This course may not be offered annually.
